It was with a heavy heart that I learned about the passing of my colleague and friend of many years, Congressman Alcee Hastings.

Alcee was a fierce, tireless fighter for civil rights and racial justice. He was a great partner in Congress when it came to serving the people of South Florida, and we worked together numerous times.

Alcee will be deeply missed. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and staff as we mourn his loss.
