Gerrymandering poses a huge threat to our democracy, and Kansas Republicans have all too much control over our state's redistricting process. Historically gerrymandering has been used to redraw district lines in a Party's favor. It has also been used to recklessly strip the voting power away from protected minorities. Racial gerrymandering was outlawed thanks to the Voting Rights Act of 1965; yet to this day, the GOP uses gerrymandering to silence communities in order to promote a bigoted agenda. 

 

According to the 2021 gerrymandering threat index, KS is at an extreme threat level of being gerrymandered by Kansas Republicans. It’s more imperative than ever that Congress pass the For the People's Act, which would make congressional gerrymandering illegal.

 

 

 

 

Democrats across Kansas must unite to elect leaders who will fight for the sanctity of our state's redistricting process. In order to maintain our democracy, we must prevent self-serving Republicans from taking power.
