John — Last week, President Biden addressed the country to talk about his administration's jobs and infrastructure plan, and made clear that, for the first time in history, investment in care workers is now a top Presidential priority. This was a HUGE milestone for our movement and a giant leap forward for our Care Is Essential campaign. But our work is not finished.
From virtual events to call-in actions to Twitter Storms — as Members of Congress head to their home districts this week — we're organizing Recovery Recess actions to make sure our elected leaders continue to hear our demands for jobs and care.
Help us kick off Recovery Recess and RSVP for the #CareCantWait Virtual Event on April 8 at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT. The U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, along with some of our nation's foremost advocates and experts for women and families, will be joining us to help cover how to access the new benefits (including direct cash to your family!) that just recently passed in the American Rescue Plan. We hope you can join us.
During this recess, we'll be reaching out to supporters like you, inviting you to participate in critical events and direct actions. We need our supporters to take 30,000 actions over the next two weeks — and we know that, together, we can meet this goal.
Up first: Join us for the #CareCantWait Virtual Event on Thursday, April 8 with Speaker Pelosi!
ALSO: be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 10 for the #CareCantWait Summit, which will include a crescendo of voices coming together to tell a holistic story of care across the lifespan — including child care, paid leave, and home and community based services. Care workers and caregivers will share their incredibly human experience of caring for another person and we’ll explore how we can seize this historic opportunity to invest in a care infrastructure that works for everyone. You won’t want to miss this incredible event.
Stay tuned John — and we’ll send more ways we can join forces and win every right our care community deserves.
Thanks for all that you do,
Celeste Faison
