America is confronting a historic set of challenges—a national health crisis, racial injustice, and an unprecedented attack on the voting rights of Black and Brown people.

 

To confront these challenges, we must fight for a world where people of color are free and safe. We must fight for a just democracy that reflects the will of the people and works for the people.

 

This week, Advancement Project National Office is excited to participate in the #ForthePeopleAct Week of Action, a week dedicated to H.R.1/S.1, important pro-democracy legislation aimed at protecting voting rights, curbing the ability of billionaires to buy elections, and making government more accountable to the people.

 

During the week, members of the Declaration for American Democracy Coalition will host Democracy teach-ins to train organizers on key issues and how the For the People Act can help address them. On Wednesday, April 7th at 7:00 p.m. ET, we’re hosting a special event called Democracy on the Ropes. Join an all-star panel of voting rights and racial justice leaders for a conversation on how states are simultaneously working to silence people of color in the streets and in the voting booth in the shadow of historic voter turnout during the 2020 elections and a white supremacist riot that breached the U.S. Capitol.
