This is how we stop them? ? ? ? SEND A MESSAGE TO THE SENATE:
EXPAND VOTING RIGHTS NOW
We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to strengthen voting rights and stop state-based voting attacks. Urge your senators to support the For the People Act today. ? SIGN NOW [link removed] ? ? ? ? ? Friend ? Making it a crime to hand out water to voters waiting in line in Georgia. Rejecting mail-in ballots not postmarked the Thursday before election day in Arizona. Eliminating early voting entirely in Tennessee.
These are just three of the more than 250 bills proposed in 43 states attacking voting rights. And even if just a fraction of them are signed into law, it could spell disaster for fair elections ? and our ability to fight the climate crisis.
But there is a solution at our fingertips: the For the People Act, which has passed the House and is currently in the Senate. The For the People Act is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fortify our democracy through strengthened voting rights ? and effectively wipe out many state-based voting rights attacks.
But with a narrow Senate majority, it's absolutely critical that we do everything in our power to show support for this bill ? including flooding Senate mailboxes today.
We set the goal of 10,000 messages into the Senate today, and we need your help ? can you demand your senators protect voting rights and our democracy now? [link removed]
Systemic voter suppression ? especially efforts that target Black, Indigenous, and people of color from participating in our democracy ? undermine the very fabric of our government, and they seriously impede our ability to act on climate.
The For the People Act takes on state-level voter suppression laws, and goes even further to fight the biggest threats to our democracy today. This incredible bill: expands voting rights, including automatic and same-day voter registration, to make our politicians accountable to all of their constituents; curbs gerrymandering to stop communities from being intentionally underrepresented; strengthens election security and government ethics to ensure a fair and transparent process; revamps campaign finance laws to limit the influence of Big Polluters and other corporate lobbyists in our elections. Friend ? none of this will happen without strong public support ? which is where you come in. Right now is a crucial moment. With a progressive majority in Congress, we need to do whatever we can to expand voting rights and protect free and fair elections.
Big Polluters and special interests are lobbying hard against this bill ? because they know when fewer people have access to the ballot, they win. But we won't let them. We need everyone reading this email to send an urgent message to their senators now, telling them to pass the For the People Act and protect our democracy. Only then will our senators have no choice but to meet their constituents' demands and pass this significant democracy reform bill.
What happens next is critical ? will you add your name now?
Our democracy is on the line ? that's why it's so important that you speak out now in support of the For the People Act, friend. Please sign before even more voting rights attacks come forward. [link removed]
At the center of real action on the climate crisis and environmental justice is ensuring that our democracy works for and represents ALL people, not just the privileged few. Can we count on you to add your name? It's critical that you act right away ? because what we do now determines the fate of our democracy for the years ahead.
Thank you,
