Greetings Ward 8 Residents,

I am excited and empowered to create new and meaningful legislation with the support of my council colleagues that will uplift and empower residents of the District.

Supporting this effort, I am hosting the State of the Ward Summit tonight, September 30th at Bald Eagle Recreation Center at 7 pm, to host discussions around:
* Community engagement
* Workforce & entrepreneurship
* Mentoring
* Financial literacy
* Service providers
* Trauma & meditation
* Home acquisition
* Faith-based
* Mental health

This summit is about building a community strategy around public safety with a public health approach. My approach to this event is to collaborate with constituents and community leaders to determine the community's priorities. Following the summit, we will align the community sentiments within the city's comprehensive plan.

I am calling all Ward 8 residents to join me as we confront the issues related to our ward. We need our community thought leaders to bring their perspectives to the table to ensure that we address related concerns.

It is a pleasure to serve the residents of Ward 8. Stay peaceful and hope to see you tonight.

Trayon White, Sr.

That is not just, and this is not how we should treat our residents who are seeking jobs. This bill is to prevent employers from testing potential employees for marijuana use as a condition of employment. โฃโฃ

Currently, employers can test for marijuana after a conditional offer of employment is made to the applicant. This bill would remove that ability unless required by law. There are few exceptions in this bill for certain areas of employment as it relates to positions in: โฃโฃ

** What Happened in Vegas?
Loose Lips Makes an Article Correction Regarding Councilmember White
------------------------------------------------------------

The Washington City Paper previously reported in an article, What happened in Vegas, that Councilmember Trayon White's trip to Las Vegas for councilmembers, the mayor, their staff and other government officials was the most expensive. See correction below.

Corrections: A previous version of this article ([link removed]) reported that Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon Whiteโ€™s trip was the most expensive, at $3,500. Records not initially provided to Loose Lips (LL) show that White canceled his initial hotel reservation at the Venetian and instead stayed at the MGM Grand. The total cost for his trip, according to the additional records, was about $2,570.

Chanell Autrey, committee director for Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, took the most expensive trip, at $3,100, not $2,900 as previously reported. LL regrets the errors.
