Just last month, we announced that When We All Vote joined Civic Nation, a home to changemaker initiatives who inspire, educate, and activate people around the issues that will define this generation.

So I’m excited to announce the newest addition to the Civic Nation family: Made to Save.

The Made to Save coalition is made up of nonprofits, companies, and healthcare partners to educate, empower and connect trusted messengers with communities that may be vaccine hesitant in order to provide scientific information regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, and help close access gaps among those who are traditionally underserved.

Working closely with the Department of Health and Human Services, Made to Save will focus on communities disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus, where access to vaccination sites and information is often limited.

Ensuring our approach is grounded in the grassroots organizing efforts of communities on the ground, Made to Save will provide grants to trusted community-based organizations in more than 30 states to increase access to the vaccines. We’ll use the most up-to-date research and data to inform these outreach efforts and grassroots organizing to identify community-specific needs to reach those impacted by health disparities and least likely to get vaccinated.

As board chair at Civic Nation, I could not be prouder to see the organization tackle the most urgent challenges of our time, including turning the page on this pandemic.

With over 100 million Americans receiving the first dose of the vaccine, hope is on the horizon. But we cannot rest on our laurels. Ending this pandemic -- and doing so equitably -- demands that each of us step up.
