I want to say thank you -- together, we reached our first FEC fundraising goal of the year, a crucial benchmark for a House race as competitive as ours.
What we’re working toward isn’t just about raising money. It’s about building a grassroots organization that can bring home another win for NJ-11 so we can continue fighting for the issues that matter to New Jerseyans and Americans across the country.
And that’s exactly what I’m doing right now in Congress:
AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN : I was proud to vote for this major piece of legislation that is already helping our country’s efforts to end the pandemic -- it’s putting money in people’s pockets and shots in arms. The ARP expands extended unemployment insurance, provides tax relief to working parents, lowers healthcare costs, and helps schools reopen safely. It also includes urgently needed aid to state and local governments, a provision I’ve been fighting for since the pandemic started, including $475 million for New Jersey’s 11th.
INFRASTRUCTURE : President Biden’s American Jobs Plan is the bold action we need to create new jobs, invest in climate resilient infrastructure, and make New Jersey a leader in the clean energy movement. It will also fully fund the Gateway Tunnel, the nation’s most important infrastructure project and one I’ve been fighting for since before I even took my oath of office.
VOTING RIGHTS : I voted to pass landmark legislation to expand voting rights, combat voter suppression, strengthen ethics laws, and improve election security. At a time when we’re seeing state lawmakers across the country pass draconian laws to restrict voting, it’s never been more important to defend our democracy and expand Americans’ ability to participate in it.
GUN SAFETY : As a veteran, I know weapons of war have no place on our streets. I’m working to establish universal background checks and other common-sense gun-safety measures that New Jerseyans and Americans across the country overwhelmingly support. Our communities cannot wait any longer. Since my first day in Congress I’ve been fighting for common-sense gun safety reform, and I’ll continue to fight until the Senate acts and real change is signed into law.
This is the kind of meaningful legislation that inspired me to run for office in the first place -- legislation that will have a real-life impact on New Jerseyans in our district. I’m so grateful to have grassroots supporters like you on my side as I fight for a better, more equitable future for New Jerseyans and Americans everywhere.
