Dear John, Every day, we’re seeing reports on the all-out assaults on trans rights -- in particular, transgender youth -- in more than 100 bills in 33 states across the country. Anti-LGBTQ+ groups and legislators know we’re making progress on getting the federal Equality Act passed in the Senate. As people who would do anything to protect our LGBTQ+ loved ones, you know how dangerous these bills can be if we don’t stop them now. We urgently need you to help stop these harmful anti-trans bills from becoming law. Please click here to donate $25 or more to PFLAG National and support our trans loved ones. We know PFLAG’s strategy of sharing our families’ stories with legislators makes all the difference. Yesterday, Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson vetoed HB1570, a bill that would have prevented trans kids from receiving life-saving, trans-affirming care. When Gov. Hutchinson announced that he would veto, he shared that he heard from trans kids, their families, and medical professionals about how harmful this bill would be to trans kids. Our voices were the tipping point, providing critical education and understanding, and helping to win the fight against harmful bills like HB1570. But the fight in Arkansas isn’t over: The Arkansas Legislature can still vote and override this veto. This is why we need your support, urgently. Because this bill -- and more than 100 others across the country -- are endangering our kids. Your donation will mobilize families in every state, providing them the resources, tools, and training needed to share their stories with legislators and the press to educate, advocate, and stop these harmful bills in their tracks. Please, click here to give what you can -- $25, $50, or any amount -- to ensure that PFLAG families and advocates are ready for this battle. I meant it when I’ve said this is a fight for our lives. I hope I can count on your support. Sincerely, Brian K. Bond (he/him) Executive Director, PFLAG National P.S. After you’ve donated what you can, please visit pflag.org/protecttranskids to demand that your state representatives protect trans youth. Thank you for taking action in any way you can. |
