Dear John,
The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) has launched a number of critical grassroots campaigns this year opposing the fiscally reckless policies being advocated by congressional Democrats and a number of presidential candidates. If you have not contacted your elected officials on some of these important issues, I urge you to take action today.
No Green New Deal – In February, new Democratic Party standard-bearer and self-described Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) introduced the Green New Deal, a wish list of liberal policies that would hand over vast amounts of power to the federal government and cost taxpayers as much as $93 trillion over 10 years. The Senate defeated the plan in March, but many provisions of the Green New Deal are still being debated in the House of Representatives. Tell your U.S. Representative to oppose the Green New Deal!
No Medicare for All – In April, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) reintroduced his Medicare for All bill. Sen. Sanders’ socialized medicine scheme would outlaw private health insurance and force Americans to participate in a government-run healthcare system – at an astronomical cost of $32 trillion over 10 years. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has pledged to hold a vote to force senators to take a position on this radical proposal. Tell your U.S. Senators to oppose Medicare for All!
No Congressional Pay Raise – In June, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her top lieutenant outrageously proposed to increase the annual salary of members of Congress, who already earn $174,000 – nearly three times the median household income in this country. After CCAGW members and supporters wrote to congressional offices opposing the pay hike, the Speaker repeatedly pulled the pay raise legislation from consideration on the House floor. Nonetheless, the legislation could come up for a vote at a moment’s notice. Tell your U.S. Representative that you oppose any effort to increase congressional pay!
No Student Loan Bailout – Many leading Democratic members of Congress and candidates for President have recently proposed a taxpayer-funded bailout of student loan debt. Paying off all outstanding student loans would come with a price tag of as much as $1.5 trillion – a costly slap in the face to every American who has scrimped and saved to pay back a student loan as promised. Tell your U.S. Representative and Senators that you oppose a taxpayer-funded student loan bailout!
Again, if you have not reached out to your elected officials opposing these fiscally irresponsible proposals that would cost taxpayers tens of trillions of dollars, I strongly encourage you to do so right now. It will only take a moment of your time. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Allen Benjamin Johnson, III
Director of Government Affairs
