Last week we told you about Arkansas’ HB 1570 — the bill sitting on the Governor’s desk that would ban trans youth from accessing gender-affirming health care.
Well, the Governor announced today that he has vetoed HB 1570. This is a huge win made possible by the thousands of people who spoke out against this abhorrent attack.
But we must keep fighting to stop similar bills like these in their tracks — including in the 27 other states voting on anti-trans legislation.
Last week we shared a crucial petition calling on the Senate to pass the Equality Act, but your name is missing. Can you help us keep the momentum and put more pressure on the Senate to pass the Equality Act by adding your name?
This monumental bill would update federal civil rights protections for LGBTQIA+ folks, AND update protections for all women and people of color in areas like transportation, retail spaces, and more. And it would stop bills like HB 1570 dead in their tracks.
It’s 2021. And, it’s time we finally update our civil rights protections to ensure everyone is able to move through the world as their true selves — we won’t wait any longer.
