It’s official, John: I’m running to become the next U.S.
Senator from Pennsylvania.

After years of harmful policies from Trump Republicans that have left so
many behind, our Commonwealth is counting on someone who can be a voice
for Pennsylvanians and cut through the noise and nonsense in Washington to
get things done.

No BS. Just results.

This campaign is a table with a chair for everybody — and not special
interests or corporate PACs. And when a campaign is powered by the people
like ours, it’s important to start building strong grassroots support on
day one.

Now, I’d like to share a little bit more about why I’m running:

I grew up the granddaughter of immigrants in a hardworking family, and I
always dreamed of using the advantages I had in life to help other people.
So I went to medical school and became a doctor.

In my 23 years as a doctor in operating rooms, I’ve seen my share of
tragedy — the trauma of gunshot victims, denials from insurance companies,
and huge disparities in health care based on race, gender, and income.

But in the medical field, I’ve also seen what’s possible with hope and
determination. During the Obama years, I jumped into the effort to finally
reform health care as an early national leader among physicians pushing
for progressive change.

Some said it couldn’t be done, but with fierce determination and
leadership, we secured health care for 23 million Americans through the
Affordable Care Act.

As chair of one of Pennsylvania’s largest counties, I worked with my
fellow Montgomery County Commissioners to reduce homelessness and
guarantee $15 an hour and six weeks of paid parental leave for every
county employee.

Our county also has one of the strongest economies in Pennsylvania and is
on track to go 100% renewable by 2050. And I’ve gained the support of
Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike, because I always tell it
how it is and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

But there is still so much work to take on. This pandemic has brought
heartache and loss to each and every one of us and taken a deep financial
toll on our country. It has also served as a painful reminder of how
difficult and expensive it still is to get access to quality health care.

Together, we can move forward and build a future that lifts people up. We
can rebuild our infrastructure with good-paying union jobs, protect our
planet by addressing the escalating climate crisis, build on Obamacare to
lower the cost of health care for all, and strengthen our democracy.

And with this competitive race likely determining whether Democrats keep
control of the Senate in 2022, your early support is crucial.

Thanks for reading. I’d be honored if you came on board.
