Donate now to stop Big Ag from polluting our waters.
John,
Did you see my email below?
State and local officials have dismantled clean water and environmental protections, allowing Big Ag to dump more waste — including fertilizer and manure that feed toxic algae blooms — in our waterways!
In Florida, the consequences are terrible. At least 432 Florida manatees have already been killed in 2021, well over double the state’s five-year average.
We must stop this ongoing disaster. But to protect our waterways and save our ocean wildlife, we need to take on Big Ag. And to do that, we need your help.
In Florida, dead sea turtles, manatees, dolphins, and other ocean species are washing ashore in shocking numbers.
At least 432 Florida manatees have already been killed in 2021, well over double the state’s five-year average. Many of the manatees appear to be starving. The seagrass and forage food they need to live is disappearing because of persistent toxic algae blooms, leaving the beloved creatures without food.
And there's a reason for that. State and local officials have dismantled clean water and environmental protections, allowing Big Ag to dump more waste (including fertilizer and manure that feed the toxic blooms) in our waterways! We must stop this continuing disaster. But to protect our waterways and save our ocean wildlife, we need to take on Big Ag. And to do that, we need your help.
Harmful algal blooms block sunlight that seagrass and other aquatic vegetation need to survive. Brown tides are fueled by waste nutrients from stormwater runoff and leaky septic tanks. Blooms turn the water murky and manatees and other ocean species starve to death.
Instead of enforcing the Clean Water Act to protect waterways and the animals that depend on them, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has given Big Ag a blank check to pollute.
We can fight to force the Biden Administration to step up to protect our ocean species, but we need your support.
Big Ag is the biggest polluter of our waterways. They’ve gone unchecked and unpunished for years. Food & Water Watch is fighting to change this. The new administration claims to be pro-environment and pro-science. Let’s hold them to that by demanding the EPA do its job!
