I'll get right to it — we just released our Q1 fundraising totals, and I wanted to share some highlights with the team.

1. We raised more than $1.55 million in Q1.
2. Through March 31, our campaign received 77,578 individual contributions at an average of just $28.
3. Since the launch of the campaign, we have raised more than $2.2 million.
4. The most common professions among donors are teachers, followed by retail workers and then health care workers.
5. There are donors to this campaign from every zip code in OH-11.

This is a campaign FOR working people, powered BY working people. And already, people in OH-11 and across the country are taking notice — just look at the news today!

Cleveland Scene:
"Nina Turner... announced that she raised $1.5 million in the first quarter of 2021, for a total campaign haul of $2.2 million. So far, more than 77,000 individual donors from all 50 states and Washington D.C. have contributed to her campaign."

The Washington Post:
"Ohio Democrat Nina Turner raised $1.6 million in the first quarter of 2021, far outpacing rivals in the special primary."

Cleveland.com:
"Deputy Campaign Manager Kara Turrentine told reporters that 'working people' such as teachers, retail workers and health care workers were the biggest donors to Turner, who has pledged not to accept money from corporate political action committees. Turner also says she won’t accept more than $200 from oil, gas, or coal executives or lobbyists."

To be clear — this is absolutely fantastic news. We’re very proud of how we’re funding this campaign and what we’ve been able to accomplish so far, and it’s great that so many people are noticing our campaign’s momentum.

But the truth is, these numbers are going to put a big target on our back. You can assume that the political establishment will see our success and our momentum and redouble their efforts to stop our movement.

They can raise money millions of dollars at a time. We raise ours $5, $10, and $28 at a time.

Now that might seem like a mismatch — and it is. Because when tens of thousands of people come together and chip in what they can, when they can, there is NOTHING that can stand in our way.
