Friend, the new Jim Crow is alive and well for all of us to see.
As the Georgia state legislature rushed forward to overhaul elections and suppress the vote of marginalized groups and communities of color, a black lawmaker — Rep. Park Cannon — was arrested and marched off in handcuffs for her protest of the restrictive measures.
After Democrats flipped Georgia blue, Republicans panicked. Now, they’re showing us they will go to any length to suppress our votes and stay in power. It’s outrageous, but we can fight back if the Federal government steps up to protect the right to vote and equal access to the ballot box for everyone.
The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore the Voting Rights Act and protect voters’ rights from unjust, racist attacks like what we’re seeing in state legislatures across the country.
What transpired in Georgia showed us that acting on voting rights is as important as ever right now. Will you add your name to my petition and demand the Senate pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act? [[link removed]]

The GOP knows their best path to victory is by making our elections less democratic. They will push as much as they can to restrict the right to vote and silence the voices of underrepresented communities.
John Lewis dedicated his life to standing in the way of inequality like these anti-voting measures, and it’s only fitting that his name and legacy be attached to the critical legislation that would restore and enshrine voting rights for many.
The time to act is now. Join me in demanding the Senate pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and stand in the way of assaults on our democracy by signing on to my petition. [[link removed]]
