Dear Friend,
Today's the day!
We are in the final round of our annual Bad Bill Madness campaign, a parody of the popular college basketball competition. Hopefully you have been following along! We started with 16 state bills from across the country that we are pretty sure are BAD for church-state separation, we put them in a bracket, and invited supporters like you to vote on which bill is the worst.
We are down to two...
Arkansas' SB 289 - This bill would allow doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, and even insurance companies and employers to cite religious beliefs to deny patients necessary care during a scheduled visit or during an emergency. (Regrettably over the course of this campaign, Arkansas governor, Asa Hutchinson. signed this deeply damaging bill into law)
VS
Texas' HB 3326, which would allow women who have abortions and the doctors who perform them to be charged with assault or homicide. Note, in Texas, homicide is punishable by death. ("pro-life" smh)
