Rep. Jason Crow said it best:

"There's a reason I didn't take my deer hunting rifle to Baghdad and Afghanistan, and there's a reason I didn't take my military assault rifle to deer hunt. They're vastly different weapons, to do vastly different things."

That should be a simple enough argument to understand — but Senate Republicans are still blocking the most basic of gun safety measures, like universal background checks or a ban on military-style assault rifles.
