PFAW Member, Don't forget, Democracy Week - a week of action to build support and advocacy skills for the For the People Act - starts today! Today's activities are dedicated to protecting the freedom to vote - and we have a lot of work cut out for us on that front. With more than 250 anti-voting rights bills on the move in more than 40 states, we desperately need greater protections for voters nationwide - and that's where the For the People Act comes in. There's so much our community can do to support this groundbreaking legislation, and we can't wait to work alongside you to get it across the finish line. Thank you for helping us realize the democracy that we deserve! – Sarah, People For the American Way ----[previous message]---- People For Member, Next week is the perfect time to celebrate something we all cherish: democracy! Our partner organizations in the Declaration for American Democracy coalition are joining together for a week of action during the Senate’s April Recess, from April 5-9. During this week, there will be virtual teach-ins, in-person actions, and other digital ways for you to plug in and support the most transformative democracy bill in our generation, the For the People Act (S. 1)! RSVP now for virtual teach-ins on protecting the vote, ending gerrymandering, and so much more! >> America is confronting a historic set of challenges to our voting rights, and to confront these challenges, we must fix our broken democracy and turn our government into one where all communities are heard and where the public interest – and not special interests – guides decision-making. Passing the For the People Act will make this possible by protecting our freedom to vote, ending partisan and racial gerrymandering, curbing the influence of dark money in politics, and making our government more transparent and accountable to the people – and there will be a teach-in on each one of these topics! We want to make sure you have all the tools you need to keep up the drumbeat while we show the Senate how critical it is that they pass the For the People Act without delay. Each event will be led and organized by experts, movement leaders, and advocates from dozens of organizations from all different issue areas, including voting rights, climate, and faith-based groups, policy centers, and more. In order to build the momentum needed to pass this historic legislation, we need activists across the country to join us next week. And of course, keep an eye on People For’s digital channels for more ways you can get involved throughout the week. Thank you for celebrating democracy with us!
