Friend,

On Friday, a Capitol Police officer was tragically killed. My heart goes out to Officer Billy Evans and his family -- as well as the entire Capitol Police community, which has already endured so much this year.

The trauma of January 6 has lingered for many who work in and around the Capitol, and Friday's attack may have brought back painful memories. To anyone who is struggling: know that you are cared about, and that help is there if you need it.

This week has underscored the need to ensure that the Capitol Police always have the necessary funding, support, and mental health resources. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will continue to work tirelessly for this.

Those who put their lives on the line to protect our Capitol are heroes who allow our democracy to function. My thoughts are with all of them during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Jennifer

P.S. If you are struggling with trauma, I encourage you to explore some mental health resources here.
