The Weldon Amendment is an anti-choice refusal of healthcare policy that emboldens those who oppose reproductive freedom and want to block pregnant people’s access to abortion care. The Hyde Amendment blocks insurance coverage of abortion for people who receive their health insurance through the federal government — disproportionately harming Black, Indigenous, and other women of color, transgender and non-binary people, and those with lower incomes.
