Dear John,
Right now, members of Congress and President Biden are coming under renewed pressure by economists, conservative think tanks and so-called “deficit hawks” to rein in soaring budget deficits. Yet, the mounting debt was created not by Social Security and Medicare but by spending on other priorities:
Unpaid for tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires … more economic federal bailouts … and an economy damaged by the coronavirus pandemic.
So you can be sure many politicians are eager to reconsider our government’s financial commitment to Social Security and Medicare … because that’s where the money is.
That’s why I need you to sign our Petition to President Biden and remind him that older Americans will not accept any cuts to our earned benefits. Instead, we need him to back vital improvements to Social Security and Medicare without delay! As you know, President Biden campaigned on restoring bipartisanship in Washington. But I’m deeply concerned that his efforts to find compromise could end up undermining our hard-fought battles to protect Social Security and Medicare from devastating cuts and radical reforms.
We cannot afford to sit back and hope for the best — especially when Big Pharma, Wall Street CEOs and huge insurance companies are clamoring to force earned benefits onto the chopping block in Washington.
