Republicans have spent the last four years ringing the alarm about immigration on the southern border — putting kids in cages, building an expensive and ineffective wall, and telling everyone that they'll “make Mexico pay for it.” If there's a crisis at the border, Republicans are to blame.
But now that Joe Biden is in office, Republicans are suddenly using the border as a way to distract from all of the damage they've done.
That's why Ted Cruz led a delegation of Republican senators and a camera crew to the border. They're taking a crisis that has taken a massive toll on immigrant children and families, and using it to distract from the damage their xenophobic rhetoric has done to our country.
Ted Cruz has built a career on xenophobia, and now he's trying to leave it all behind and distract from his damaging past. We can't allow him and other Republican lawmakers to get away with it.
