A right-wing dark money group known as the Judicial Crisis Network (JCN) is attempting to block Vanita Gupta's confirmation to Associate Attorney General for Biden's Department of Justice.
The JCN is powerful, John. They pumped over $10 million to boost Brett Kavanaugh's nomination -- and they did it again for Amy Coney Barrett. Their court-packing machine has resulted in over 80 partisan Supreme Court decisions that limit workers' rights, restrict access to reproductive health care, block gun safety laws, and undermine civil liberties.
Gupta is an experienced civil rights lawyer. She has dedicated her career to protecting voting rights, advocating for racial justice, and ending the war on drugs. It's no wonder Republicans are doing everything they can to block her nomination. If confirmed, Gupta would ruin the GOP's voter suppression strategy.
That's why the JCN is spending millions to paint Gupta as an extremist -- and their racist tactics are working. The Senate Judiciary Committee has reached a deadlock on confirming Gupta.
