As Floridians, we are uniquely susceptible to the challenges posed by climate change. With sea levels rising, our communities are experiencing worsening floods, and scientists warn that Florida's coasts could be uninhabitable by the century's end.

To mitigate the effects of climate change, we must safeguard our most vulnerable communities.

That's why I've proudly co-sponsored HB 315, the "Environmental Resiliency Act." This bi-partisan legislation creates a statewide Office of Resiliency and Sea-Level Rise Task Force to ensure Florida's communities can withstand the growing threats associated with climate change. Read the bill.

I firmly believe climate change is one of the most pressing issues. And though this is an excellent bill, it's only a part of the solution.

Solving our climate-related problems means investing heavily in renewables, creating thousands of high-paying jobs in the green economy, and transforming our energy system away from fossil fuels.

We have an amazing opportunity to protect our state for future generations by modernizing Florida's economy. In the legislature, I will continue pushing for policies that spark innovative climate solutions, create green jobs and allow our children to thrive.
