Comprehensive report on LBQ women shows disparities and resilience

A new report by the Williams Institute provides an in-depth examination of the demographics, health, and socioeconomic status of cisgender and transgender LBQ women and girls in the U.S. Results show that LBQ women and girls, in particular LBQ women of color, experience disparities in many areas of life, including poverty, depression, criminalization, discrimination, and violence. However, they develop resilience through a variety of support systems, such as community connectedness, social support, and political engagement. Almost all (98%) LBQ cisgender women report being involved in political activities and most of them are involved in more than one issue, including women’s issues, racial/ethnicity issues, and LGBT issues.
