Mark your calendar for Earth Day, April 22nd! We at the Morris County Young Democrats would like to encourage our members to get outside and join one of the many local activities happening around Morris County to care for and celebrate our local environment. There are events happening all around Morris County through the entire week of Earth Day, such as:
Raritan Headwaters is hosting their Annual Stream Clean-up on Saturday, April 17th with clean-up sites all over Morris County. Please preregister HERE as they will not be accepting walk-ins to any of their clean-up sites in order to adhere to social distancing protocols. The “O” icons on their site map show where they are still accepting sign-ups.
The Town of Dover will be hosting a Town Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 17th AND Saturday, April 24th, from 8:30-11:30 A.M. on both days. To RSVP, please contact Evelyn Santiago at 973-366-2200 ext. 1112.
The Town of Parsippany-Troy Hills will be hosting a cleanup of the Boonton Reservoir, the North Beverwyck Road area, Parsippany Road, and Vail Road on April 24th, and 25th. If you'd like to attend, you can sign up HERE.
If you're interested in doing a cleanup or volunteering in your own town, we encourage you to check their municipal website, or reach out to your local Environmental Commission. Just make sure to follow social distancing guidelines, such as wearing a mask and staying 6 feet away from other volunteers.
There are lots of ways to celebrates Earth Day and doing your part to protect our environment. If you’re interested in creating your own event, you can contact the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters for support with organizing and sharing your project.
