All we can say is thank you, John,
With the help of supporters like you, we were able to reach our first end-of-quarter goal of the year, and we couldn't be more grateful. Reaching this goal means that better lives and brighter futures are now possible for more children – children like 10-year-old Aya* in Syria.
After an airstrike hit near Aya's school, killing a child, she was scared to return. Then, her family was forced to flee their home in the middle of the night because their neighborhood was hit by shelling. They've now been displaced for months.
But our teams are determined to make sure this conflict doesn't rob children of their education, so they turned four buses into brightly painted mobile classrooms – taking school to some of the 575,000 displaced children at the heart of the crisis in Syria, including Aya.
These mobile classrooms not only teach core subjects like Arabic and math, but also provide structured emotional and psychosocial support along with games to help children recover from the trauma of the war. The program was briefly paused during the pandemic, but this crucial program is now continuing through distance learning.
Aya is able to continue her education through these mobile classrooms without being afraid, and she has big dreams to become a doctor so she can help people in Syria. John, this is just one example of how your support helps children in unimaginable situations.
Thank you so much, today and always, for creating lifelong change in the lives of children.
