Dearest John,
Yesterday, President Biden outlined his historic jobs and infrastructure plan, which includes an unprecedented, $400 billion dollar investment in care infrastructure and care jobs — specifically for home and community-based services!
This is a big moment for our campaign to rebuild a caregiving system that works for everyone, and we got here thanks to advocates and activists like you.
Having care included in Biden’s plan is huge, but there’s still a lot of work to do before this plan becomes law. Will you help us fund the vital work that needs to happen to ensure Congress includes caregiving when they pass this bill? [[link removed]]

Make no mistake, we wouldn’t be here without the Caring Across supporters like you who signed petitions, sent letters, called their elected officials, made lobby visits, and did everything else necessary for people in power to understand the importance of this issue. It took years of strategic organizing and advocacy to put care on politicians’ radar. And that work was made possible through the generosity of our supporters. YOU made today possible, but we can’t stop now! [[link removed]]
Caring Across Generations is celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. Think of all that we’ve accomplished together since then. When our fearless leader, Ai-jen Poo, started Caring Across Generations ten years ago, she set out to change the way care is viewed and supported in this country realizing care responsibilities appeared to be largely invisible not only to politicians but the general public. Why? Largely because we didn’t see it as ‘work’, even though so many of us have first hand experience with barriers to care services affecting various aspects of our life, and for many, creating untenable financial instability.
Through strategic partnerships, coalition building, culture change work, and organizing, we created a momentum that was catapulted into the national spotlight during a period of unfathomable devastation that is and was the COVID-19 pandemic. We were thrust into the eye of the storm because the entire nation now felt the full weight of what a severely deficient care infrastructure had cost us – quite literally everything. It cost us economic security, it caused millions of women to withdraw from the workforce, and it cost thousands upon thousands of lives, especially in the nation’s nursing homes.
Your advocacy brought the conversation around care and caregiving to the mainstream. You’ve worked to ensure that home care workers are eligible for the protections of the Fair Labor Standards Act, including overtime. And, since the pandemic has laid bare the problems in the system, you’ve made home and community based supports one of President Biden’s top priorities.
With your support, we can continue our work to rebuild the caregiving system in our country. Together, we can ensure that families don’t have to decide between keeping a job or caring for a loved one. And we can make it so everyone who needs caregiving support can get it.
We just need to keep up this momentum to pass President Biden’s plan in its entirety. A gift of $5 or more today will help make sure that we’re able to keep this work going for as long as it takes. [[link removed]]
