ICYMI: Strong Future Maryland Founder John B. King Jr. and Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates Adrienne Jones penned an Op-Ed on the importance of investing in Black economic progress in Maryland.

This legislative session, the Maryland General Assembly has the opportunity to not just talk about racial justice, but act on it by passing a bold, comprehensive Black economic agenda that addresses deep disparities in housing and health care practices, expands access to credit and who is deemed worthy of loans, and seeks to meaningfully diversify boards and leadership teams of companies doing business with the state.

Maryland has a chance to become a national model by not just reckoning with over 400 years of anti-Blackness in America, but making progress real for Black Marylanders -- and when Black Marylanders are supported, the entire state prospers.

“With a robust Black economic agenda, we can make true progress not just for Black Marylanders, but for the future prosperity of our state. We hope the Maryland General Assembly supports the nation’s first truly comprehensive statewide policy agenda for racial justice and economic progress. Our work is far from done in addressing systemic oppression, but it is urgent that we take important actions now for Black justice in our state and our nation.”
