Dear Friend,
Jeff Bezos has picked a fight with Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Warren called out Amazon for its union-busting, low-wage-paying,
tax-dodging ways. Amazon's Twitter account, under the direction of Bezos,
shot back in a big way. The company wrote a series of tweets accusing
Warren of not protecting workers and not raising the minimum wage.^1
Sen. Warren is one of the strongest voices we have in the fight to make
corporations pay their fair share, and we can’t let Amazon spin this
narrative.

Bezos is attempting to turn public opinion against Sen. Warren because she
is attempting to pass a 3 percent tax on all assets over $1 million.^2
For Bezos, it would be a $5.8 billion check to the government, leaving him
with . . . [checks notes] . . . $175 billion.^3 He would make that back in
17 days.^4
But the tax on people like Bezos, Elon Musk, and Warren Buffett would give
the government $2.75 trillion in ten years. That could help lift tens of
millions of people out of poverty, help support Medicare for All, and help
fund the fight against climate change.^5
Economists have long warned of a COVID-19 recovery that could tank again,
and we need to put a stop to the rich getting richer while working
families suffer.^6
Amazon’s last tweet to Warren: “If you don’t like the laws you’ve created,
by all means, change them.”^7 That’s exactly what we plan to do. Will you
donate to help pass the wealth tax?
