Dear friend,
Recently we’ve seen bystanders frozen in the face of harassment targeting AAPI individuals, some bystanders even ignoring the situation. We can do better.
Since the shootings in Atlanta two weeks ago, 45,000 people have registered for our free trainings to address anti-Asian/American hate and harassment and we’ve trained 10,000+ so far alongside our partners at Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC.
Let’s keep the momentum going. We need to show up for each other, to protect the AAPI community by disrupting every instance of harassment we see. When we allow harassment to continue unchecked, it can escalate into violence, but we also know many of us don’t know what to do.
We believe our tools of bystander intervention can empower anyone to step into the role of active bystander, to at least do one thing to show up in support of the person being harassed.
This is why we invite you and two of your allies to join us at our next Bystander Training. We’ve prepared the image below, along with a caption. We’ve prepared these easy to save and post caption/graphic for you, but also encourage you to speak from your heart in your invitation. We all know people who are caring and compassionate, and we hope you already have a few people in mind to share these tools with, because these tools can transform that compassion into action.
