In a Washington Post op-ed, SVP for International Affairs Sharon Nazarian and Task Force on Middle Eastern Minorities co-chair Aykan Erdemir warned of the extinction of religious minorities in the Middle East, and called on the international community to provide assistance.

ADL reiterated a call for Palestinian terrorist Ahlam al-Tamimi, who helped carry out the 2001 Sbarro bombing in Jerusalem that killed 15 people, to be extradited from Jordan to the US to face justice.

ADL condemned the Islamic Republic of Iran for imprisoning Iranian citizens, including a Jew, for having a connection to Israel.

In a new blog, Washington Director for International Affairs David Weinberg explained why Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s antisemitic and violent tweets merit him being kicked off the platform. In addition, David penned two articles on the pervasiveness of antisemitism in Iranian textbooks for Arab News and for the Long War Journal.

Europe

As part of ADL’s student delegation to the Social Cohesion Summit, 25 European and Israeli Jewish students heard from and met with a number of ADL staff, including CEO Jonathan Greenblatt.
 
ADL marked the third anniversary of the antisemitic murder of Holocaust survivor Mireille Knoll in Paris, France.

ADL said it was disturbed by a display of hanging dolls outside a synagogue in Norrkoping, Sweden on the first night of Passover. Pictures of the display were shared online by the neo-Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement.

UK PM Boris Johnson’s repudiation of Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions was welcomed.

Latin America

ADL marked the 29th anniversary of the bombing of the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires by the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

ADL condemned Brazilian government adviser Filipe Martins for displaying the “OK gesture”, a well-known “white power” signal, during a livestreamed speech of the President of the Brazilian Senate.

Global and Communal 

ADL condemned antisemitic attacks and trends globally, including: antisemitic chants by soccer fans in Argentina; antisemitic harassment and violence targeting two visibly identified Jews in Argentina; the vandalizing of a synagogue in Belarus (photo above); accusations of Jewish child sacrifice by the leader of the Labor party in Brazil; calls for Jews to be massacred by a pastor in Brazil; an attempting stabbing of Jewish students in France; and a rise in antisemitic Covid-related conspiracy theories in Switzerland.

CEO Jonathan Greenblatt spoke at the UN’s Alliance of Civilizations conference about exploring holistic approaches to combating antisemitism.

ADL commended Singaporean security forces for apprehending a Hamas supporter who plotted to stab Jews outside a synagogue.

ADL called for justice for murdered Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl, whose kidnapper was released from prison to a safe house in Pakistan.

Following disturbing reports about ethnic cleansing in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, ADL called for the US and others to work to prevent further atrocities.

ADL marked the two-year anniversary of the Christchurch mosque terror attack by a white supremacist who killed 51 people.
