| THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED MAKE OCW2021 A SUCCESS! Obesity Care Week (OCW2021) took place Feb. 28th - March 6th with a mission to change the way society cares about obesity. The week was a big success with focus days about weight bias, obesity prevention & treatment, access to care and more. | YWM2021-VIRTUAL PROGRAM AGENDA RELEASED! The OAC is excited to share that the Program Agenda for our 2021 Your Weight Matters Convention & EXPO (YWM2021-VIRTUAL) is ready to view! This will be OAC's 10th Annual Convention, marking 10 years of providing REAL science-based education for weight management and support from REAL experts! Once again, you can expect an outstanding speaker lineup with sessions about staying resilient in restless times; eating for your health and seeing "diet" as a noun, not a verb; obesity and COVID-19; and more. There will also be opportunities for post-session interactive group chats! The piece, titled "Congress Can't Wait When it Comes to Obesity," emphasizes the importance of the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act - especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when people with obesity have a higher risk of becoming seriously ill. Ever felt shut down or disrespected in an appointment where weight became the focus of too much of the conversation? Then you have experienced weight bias. In a recent OAC blog post, an anonymous OAC Member shares about a visit she had with a rheumatologist who displayed weight bias that left her feeling hopeless and disheartened. But she didn't just accept this weight bias. She took action. The 2021 Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) was reintroduced into the 117th Congress in early March. Now the legislation needs support from the House and Senate to pass. Take action with OAC and send a letter to your legislators urging them to cosponsor and support the final passage of TROA!
