To promote Every Kid Healthy Week in your school, you can promote and reinforce healthy habits, good nutrition, emotional health and physical activity. This year's daily themes are: Monday, April 26: Mindful Monday (social emotional health) Tuesday, April 27: Tasty Tuesday (nutrition and food access) Wednesday, April 28: Wellness Wednesday (self-care strategies) Thursday, April 29: Thoughtful Thursday (connectedness, relationship skills, social awareness) Friday, April 30: Fitness Friday (physical activity and active play) As school nurses, we can spread the word about Every Kid Healthy Week and create events to mark each day. LISTEN TO THE PODCAST School Nurse Forensic Boot Camp Now Available This free five-part series offered through the Academy of Forensic Nurses offers 9 CE and is designed to improve the school nurse’s knowledge on providing care to students impacted by violence, trafficking, or suicide and mental health issues. Sessions are pre-recorded so learning can occur at your own pace, but live panel discussion will occur on April 14. LEARN MORE American Rescue Plan (ARP) Advocacy Resources Available The ARP, or COVID-19 Stimulus, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden includes $122 billion for K-12 public schools. School districts can use the funds in a variety of ways, including hiring additional school nurses to support the health and well-being of students. NASN has prepared a series of resources, including an overview of the ARP and funding flow and social media graphics. The overview of ARP can be used to make a clear and compelling case on how to use ARP funds in their community with respect to school nursing services. National Healthy Schools Day is coordinated by Healthy Schools Network and a group of other organizations. There are a number of resources available for your school here.
