Share these new falls prevention resources

We know what contributes to falls, which means they can be prevented. That’s why NCOA leads a national observance of Falls Prevention Awareness Day each year on the first day of fall. For 2019, we focused on the importance of relying on teamwork to protect older adults' health and independence. Use our latest video and blog post to introduce older adults to the team they can build to prevent falls.

Best practices for serving vulnerable populations

In 2018, NCOA funded four organizations as Benefits Enrollment Centers (BECs) testing specific models to reach especially vulnerable low-income populations, including those facing foreclosure or eviction, Native Americans with disabilities, and seniors in distressed urban communities. Now, these organizations are sharing what they learned so your organization can use what's worked to increase benefits access in your community.

  • House committee steps up on Dignity in Aging Act: On Sept. 18, the House Committee on Education and Labor approved H.R. 4334, the Dignity in Aging Act of 2019. This bipartisan legislation reauthorizes the Older Americans Act (OAA) through 2024 and incorporates a number of improvements proposed by NCOA and its aging network partners. There’s a long way to go, but this is a big win for us.
