Dear Friend, BREAKING: A federal court just threw out a key part of Ajit Pai's repeal of net neutrality—a game-changer in the fight for net neutrality. The FCC's repeal banned states from passing their own strong net neutrality rules, and now that part of the rule has been thrown out. This means states like California that had already passed gold standard state-level net neutrality protections can now move forward. This ruling also means the 2020 presidential candidates need to step up and pledge to restore net neutrality — and we're working hard to push them to do so. But we can’t act without your help, and time is of the essence. Will you rush an emergency donation to Demand Progress and help restore net neutrality? We're still reviewing the decision, and we're disappointed that key parts of the repeal were upheld. Ajit Pai's repeal of net neutrality violated the law in several key ways, and we believe the entire repeal should have been thrown out. But while we didn't get the complete win we wanted, allowing states to enact their own strong net neutrality protections is a huge deal. And we can still win at the federal level by pressing the Senate and presidential candidates to act. Here's what happens next:
Since the repeal of net neutrality, internet providers have used the repeal to throttle speeds and slow access, even for a fire department battling a massive wildfire. That's why we need to take advantage of this massive opportunity for net neutrality and the free and open internet. We're mobilizing our response right now. Will you donate to help restore net neutrality? Yes, I'll donate to Demand Progress' campaign to restore net neutrality. Thanks for standing with us.
