** Chairman's Update
------------------------------------------------------------
KSGOP Chairman Mike Kuckelman
Leading the Kansas Republican Party the last two years and celebrating all of our great success last November has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life.
As we approach our 2021 State Convention in Manhattan I wanted to offer a quick recap of our 2020 successes:
* President Trump received 100,000 MORE votes than he did in 2016.
* Senator Roger Marshall soundly defeated Democrat Barbara Bollier by nearly 12 points.
* Each of the three Congressional Districts held by Kansas Republicans improved their vote shares from 2018.
* Kansas Republicans solidified our supermajorities in both chambers of the Kansas Legislature.
Additionally, one of my top priorities as chairman has been to implement a more robust communications effort. I’m pleased to share that throughout the first quarter of 2021, the Kansas GOP has been ranked among the top five most engaged state parties in the country on social media according to the RNC’s data trackers. Despite being one of the smaller GOP states and state parties, we have ranked alongside some of the largest like Texas, New York, and North Carolina in engagement.
We are keeping the pressure on Joe Biden, Sharice Davids, and Laura Kelly as we head into the incredibly important 2022 elections where our top goals include taking back KS-03 and the governor’s mansion.
** Federal Update
------------------------------------------------------------
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran
Welcome to the Democrats' March Madness!
It has been three months since Democrats took power in Washington, and it is clear Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are prepared to do whatever it takes to ram their liberal agenda through Congress.
Not only are Pelosi and Schumer attempting to rewrite all 50 states’ election laws and hand the management of our elections over to Washington bureaucrats, but they plan to do so by breaking the Senate rules and removing the filibuster.
Plain and simple, H.R. 1 is an affront to the United States Constitution. I’ve seen monstrous bills during my time in Congress, and H.R. 1 is one of the worst bills I've seen that has a chance at becoming law.
Americans did not vote to give one party free rein to implement an unprecedented power grab, to nationalize elections and strip power from states and localities from now into perpetuity. As a conservative, I believe in individual liberties and in a federal government that exercises restraint, and that state and local units of government are inherently more responsive to the wishes of their community. My adherence to the Constitution instructs deference to state governments to oversee their own elections.
This week I joined my GOP colleagues to highlight how damning H.R. 1 would be to our democracy and republic. To watch my remarks, click here ([link removed]) .
I also spoke on the Senate floor to encourage all Americans to take the time to read and understand H.R. 1 for what it truly is. To watch my floor speech, click here ([link removed]) .
Rest assured, I will stand firm to defend the Constitution and protect our way of life in Kansas.

** State Update
------------------------------------------------------------
State Senator Kellie Warren (Leawood)
Your Republican Senate has been leading on conservative reforms and working to stop Governor Kelly’s liberal agenda since the session began in January. While our work is not over, I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish.
As the Senate Judiciary Committee Chair, my first priority was ensuring passage of the Value Them Both Amendment. This constitutional amendment is essential to ensure that Kansas does not become a destination state for abortions, on healthy babies, up until the moment of birth. This legislation was crucial to pass, and I was honored to help lead the effort to get it on the August 2, 2022 ballot.
The Senate Judiciary Committee also reformed the Kansas Emergency Management Act which has governed Kansas’s response to COVID-19. Primarily we enacted key changes to limit the Governor’s executive overreaches and to put stronger guardrails in place for local units of government so citizens could stop unilateral action by unelected bureaucrats.
We also tackled an important reform to criminal sentencing guidelines to allow for tougher penalties against sexual predators who prey on children. This arose from a case in Olathe when a teacher secretly recorded inappropriate videos of young minor girls in his class.
I have also helped pass vital property tax reform, protections for girl’s sports, and tax law changes to allow Kansans to finally receive their full federal tax cut.
My constituents elected me to deliver on conservative solutions to help rebuild our state. Kansans expect a record of results, conservative policy, and proven leadership from their elected leaders and your Kansas Republican Senate has been working hard to deliver.
