Please read this important update.

AFGE Family,

As federal agencies attack collective bargaining agreements and official time, now is the time to learn more about the EEO statutory protections you still have!

The Women’s and Fair Practices Departments are here to help you navigate through the EEO process, equip you with the tools to advocate against discriminatory practices, and fight for your civil rights in the workplace. We’re excited to share two online modules to reacquaint you with the WFP Departments and inform you about the EEO protected classes that can form the basis of an EEO complaint.

The first module called “Women’s and Fair Practices Departments, Who We Are, What We Do” invites you to learn more about the WFP Departments, including information about the role of the National Vice President of WFP, the respective mission of each Department, the important services that each Department provides, and how the Human Rights Committee (HRC) is incorporated within WFP to provide the Federation with better access to the programs of the Departments.

The second module called “EEO and Protected Classes” dives into the federal statutes that protect employees from discrimination in the workplace, and discusses each of the 9 protected EEO classes in detail. This module ends with a series of brief quizzes to help solidify the distinguishing characteristics of various protected classes.

We invite you to take these online modules at your own pace. There is no cost to access the training and anyone can access these modules. You can find the modules here. Over the next several months, you can expect to hear more from the Women’s and Fair Practices Departments about our next set of modules as we expand our library of self-paced training related to the EEO complaint process.

Please feel free to contact the Women’s and Fair Practices Departments at 202-639-6417 if you have any questions or concerns.

AFGE also offers many other online modules on topics like Health & Safety, Bargaining, Organizing, and basics for Stewards and Local Officers. Click here to learn more.

In Solidarity,

Jeremy A. Lannan
