"I’ve been blown away by the interest and excitement from partners and stakeholders to learn the results of the project because I think everyone understands the power of local data – we can use this to support local policies to reduce microplastics in our communities and hopefully influence statewide change which has huge potential in California.
For me, it was also extra exciting to carry out microplastics research in my local watershed – in many ways, this was like a San Francisco Bay Expedition. Our goal was to get out on the Bay to collect the data and now we are ready to make some noise with the results and data supported policy recommendations."
