Last Man Standing?

A Note From Charlemagne Institute CEO Devin Foley

For over a week now, Anders Koskinen, our Associate Editor and an administrator for our social media channels, has been banned from posting both on Intellectual Takeout’s Facebook page and his personal page. Yesterday, it happened to Annie Holmquist, our Editor.

Annie was prevented from posting any content whatsoever — however apolitical and benign — with the blanket message that the action was “deemed abusive or is otherwise disallowed”:
deemed abusive or is otherwise disallowed

The result is that my account is the last one we are able to use for maintaining and updating our ITO Facebook pages. But I don’t expect this workaround to work all that much longer.

So, if you don’t see new articles from Intellectual Takeout on our Facebook feeds, it likely means that my account has also been censored by the Big Tech tyrants.

When I logged into my Facebook account to check if I remained able to publish, I was greeted ironically by one of Facebook’s programmed “memories” from my feed nine years ago. The post couldn’t have been more fitting:

We occupy a strange and alarming moment in history. Quite a few people express a sense of foreboding doom, that our civilization is reaching a point of crisis. For me, it seems as though we are all being herded toward a dark abyss, into an evil that likely will mark the end of an age.

A factor that adds to the unease is the sense that there is now global collaboration on propaganda, rules, and messaging. That their coordinated outreach spans public health agencies, governments, media outlets, NGOs, and corporations, and that their shutdown of dissident voices is being choreographed.

Given my background in communications, I know what it takes to coordinate simple messaging at Charlemagne Institute. This leads me to the realization that whatever forces are behind the global coordination to “reset” our world are incredibly well-funded and staffed. Two questions follow: why are all manner of institutions and corporations conceding their independence to these dictates? And why are these very same institutions propagating these threats to individual liberty?

Indeed, we are no longer dealing with just governments threatening our freedoms. The threats to liberty extend to Academia and the Media, to Wall Street as well as Main Street.

What we face is worse than mere censorship. There simply is no tolerance for dissenting voices. The Powers That Be are no longer satisfied with you “keeping your mouth shut and your head down.” Indeed, we now face demands to conform and publicly parrot their talking points, lest we be seen — and tagged — as dissidents and enemies of the public.

We will need courage in the coming months and years. Remember, courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the will to conquer your fear and do what is right and necessary.

The sad truth is that neither I nor the team here at Charlemagne Institute clearly know where all of this madness will take us. What we do know, however, is that what is happening at an accelerating pace is likely to send all of us down the road to serfdom…if we do not push back effectively together.

Godspeed,

Devin Foley

P.S. Since they can’t censor the mail (yet!), here’s one of our recent postcards mailed to tens of thousands of people:
