ACLU Supporter –
Today's a critical day in the fight for immigrants' rights: We're heading to court for two asylum cases, back to back.
First up: We're challenging the policy forcing asylum seekers to remain in Mexico while their asylum proceedings in the U.S. are pending. As a result of this unconscionable policy, more than 42,000 people are stranded in Mexico, at risk of violence and even death, and often with little or no information on how to follow up with their asylum cases. We're fighting to stop it today in Innovation Law Lab v. McAleenan.
ACLU Supporter, it's supporters like you who fuel our fight against Trump's asylum bans. Donate now to help us in the courtroom today, and sustain us in the many battles we have ahead.
Last year, the Trump administration made yet another attempt to block asylum seekers by automatically denying asylum applications made by people who were between ports of entry – pushing protection out of reach for thousands of asylum seekers, who often don't have the means or ability to reach formal ports of entry in safety. Our lawsuit stopped that policy and today we're defending that victory in East Bay Sanctuary Covenant v. Trump.
These two cases are vital to protect our country's asylum system, but they're just the tip of the iceberg in an all-out assault on immigrants' rights. Just last week, Trump announced a cap of just 18,000 refugees for the next fiscal year – the lowest in our history. There's a long fight ahead, and that's why your support is so vital at this time.
Donate today and help us dismantle each of this administration's attacks on immigrants' rights – on all our rights. Your contribution is the only way this fight can continue, one lawsuit at a time.
ACLU Supporter, at the end of the day, we must never forget that these policies come at a real human cost. These are crises that that can't wait. We're lucky to have supporters like you in our corner, giving us the power we need to act now – and win.
Thanks for supporting this fight,
