Hi,

I'm celebrating a big personal milestone this month: eight years here at the Texas Democratic Party.

Now, eight years is a pretty long time in politics -- but even more so in this case. That's because, over the last decade, the Texas Democratic Party -- alongside the progressive movement in Texas -- has gone from a small organization struggling to find its footing, to the nationally-recognized heavyweight it is today.

The powerhouse Party we know today is almost unrecognizable compared to the place we were when I walked in the door those eight years ago. I can still picture it: a mere handful of staff in an office that was not only giant and eerily overcrowded, but also far away from the partners we needed to work with, and the allies we wanted to support.

The setup wasn't ideal. But our mission was too important to let anything slow us down. With an aggressive and ambitious plan to rebuild, staff began to reach out to grassroots donors and partners across the state. Our idea was simple but -- in a formerly deep red state -- audacious: we believed that with the right game plan, we could beat Republicans.

We were ambitious, but we weren't naive. We knew it would take time, and faith, and more than a little hard work. More than anything, we needed people to believe it was possible, and start pulling alongside us. We are here today because hundreds of thousands of caring, concerned Texans heard that call to action and came running to help.

Fast forward to 2018 and electoral successes that excited Democrats statewide -- and made folks across the country sit up and take notice of Texas. By the time 2020 came along, we'd gained so much ground that we knew a blue Texas was finally in striking distance. And that brings us to today. Where we're on the cusp of a Texas-sized victory.

Just like me, you've been in it for the long haul. So you know how far we've come -- and how much difference a little hope and hard work can make. Will you chip in your first $7 of 2021 to bring that blue Texas a little closer today?
