OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Fellow Democrats! We have some very important volunteer positions that need to be filled to keep us on track to victory in 2020. This is the most important election of your lifetime. Now is the time to contribute your skill sets to getting Democrats elected at the local, state, and national levels. Please read about these volunteer opportunities below, and if you are interested in learning more or signing up for the job, email Stacey at [email protected]
MERCHANDISING COORDINATOR
Our Merchandising Coordinator will be in charge of ordering, designing, and inventorying the merchandise (T-shirts, mugs, water bottles, bumper stickers, etc.) Additionally, the Merchandising Coordinator will be tasked with researching new and fun items to offer to local Democrats. This isn’t a large time-commitment position, probably no more than five hours a month, but it is a very important one as we keep our proud Democrats showing their colors!
BOOTH MANAGER
One of our goals as Democrats in a predominantly red Republican county, is to make sure we are at all the events they are at and that the public sees us. One way we do that is by having our booth at every community event possible. We are in need of a Booth Manager that will be responsible for the putting up and taking down of our booth at these events. All the materials are kept at the office and you will have plenty of fellow volunteers to help you set up and take down. We do participate in every Downtown Friday (last Friday of every month in Downtown Vero) which would be a commitment of at least 5 hours every month. There are approximately 6 other events in Fellsmere, Sebastian, and Vero Beach throughout the year that the Booth Manager would need to help with, as well.
PRECINCT CAPTAINS
Precinct Captains are responsible for getting out the Democratic vote in Indian River County. The primary requirements for DEC membership are to be registered to vote as a Democrat and be a legal resident of Indian River County.
Precinct Captains serve for one presidential election cycle. They are tasked with neighborhood leadership activities, as well as attending all DEC meetings, in person or by proxy. The DEC meets once a month on the third Thursday of the month, all-year round.
The Precinct Captain actively engages in leadership activities in their neighborhoods to:
- Register voters
- Register voters to enroll in Vote by Mail (VBM)
- Turnout the Democratic vote in their precinct and throughout the county
- Recruit Precinct Captains and Neighborhood leaders
- Facilitate the distribution of Democratic campaign literature
The position of Precinct Captain is more of a time commitment than other volunteer opportunities because you are actually an officer in our local Democratic Party. This is an 8-12 hour a month commitment. If you live in the following precincts, we need you for Precinct Captain!
Precinct Captains are needed in Precincts:
1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 20, 24, 28, 29, 32, 34, 35
