Editor's Note:
There once was a time when being pleasantly naive was considered harmless, and perhaps even charming, We chose to believe that national authorities were truthful and had the best interests of all citizens in mind, so we did not feel the need to question what they were telling us. Those days are gone. As Christopher Bedford describes, the past year of incessant lying should have clearly demonstrated that there are few in positions of power today who deserve our trust. As exhausting as it might be, we must start questioning and resisting the lies if we are to maintain any of the freedoms that are so critical to our way of life. Reprinted with permission.
