Hi Team — March has been a busy month for WA Senate Democrats, and we’re excited to share our most recent updates with you all.

Our Senate Dems have taken on the challenge of a virtual session and are still delivering critical relief to thousands of Washingtonians and passing legislation that will impact the future of our state.

Still, we know there’s a lot left to do. So, as we close out the month, what issues are most important to you right now ?TAKE THE END-OF-MONTH ISSUE SURVEY [[link removed]]

Highlighting environmental justice: Statistics have shown that people who live, work, and play in America's most polluted environments are most often low-income and people of color.

Our senators are taking an important step forward and incorporating environmental justice into climate action. Just recently, Sen. Saldaña’s HEAL Act passed through the Senate! This will establish environmental justice requirements, a permanent environmental justice council, and more.

Police accountability in Washington: The Washington Senate passed a police accountability bill that will expand oversight of law enforcement by requiring police officers to intervene if a fellow officer uses excessive force.

By passing this bill, Washington has paved the way for change on a national level. This bill will empower officers to do the right thing and will provide them necessary training on the duty to intervene in cases of excessive force.

COVID relief in Washington and the US: Taking a cue from our Washington Senate, our Democratic Congress in D.C. and President Biden passed the American Rescue Plan .

Since the start of the pandemic, Washington Senate Democrats have proposed and passed MAJOR bills to provide financial support to small businesses, support basic needs like food assistance, and more. There is still much to do to help our communities recover from this pandemic, and we’re proud of our leaders for continuing to put Washingtonians first.
