Today is the last day of the first quarter of 2021, meaning our Federal Election Commission end-of-quarter deadline is tonight.
At exactly midnight, our campaign's books will close. Tomorrow, our finance team is going to start getting all the filings ready to submit to the FEC. And once submitted to the FEC, our fundraising records will go public for all to see — for the very first time since Jamaal took office in January.
This FEC deadline is our chance to highlight the success of Jamaal's term in Congress thus far. It's to prove to folks that a lawmaker who causes problems for the status quo and is largely funded by individual donors can be just as — if not more! — successful than politicians who uphold the status quo and rake in millions of dollars in corporate PAC and lobbyist money.
Just as importantly, John, it's a chance to prove that our progessive movement is going strong. The political media, pundits, and establishment will be waiting at the wings to pore through our FEC report once it goes public.
That's why it's so critical we reach our goal. If we hit this out of the park, we can show that our movement has grown since Jamaal took office — and it could be a strong indicator to the establishment and even potential opponents that they should think twice before launching a campaign against Jamaal and our movement.
