John,

I’m reaching out because today is your last chance to donate before our big end-of-quarter Federal Elections Commission filing deadline.

As of this morning, we’re about 10% short from reaching our goal.

I wanted to reach out and tell you myself why it’s so important we reach our goal by midnight tonight. I hope that after you’re done reading, you can chip in $5 or anything you can to help us reach this critical goal and raise the resources we need to continue growing our progressive, anti-racist movement in Congress. Let me start by saying this: Folks like me don’t usually end up in Congress.

On November 3, 2020 I became the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress and the first activist from the movement for Black lives to serve in federal office.

I used to sleep in my car with my babies. I remember what it was like to go to bed hungry. I’ll never forget when my face was on that cold ground on November 24, 2014 — the night that the officer who murdered Mike Brown Jr. was acquitted — when those police officers were stomping me.

I carry these experiences with me every day I go to work.

But I also know that I’m not the only one who’s struggled. Millions of families right now face these exact same challenges and that’s why I’m fighting in Congress so we can finally deliver the transformative policies our communities need.

Together, we’ve made tremendous progress in our collective fight for racial justice and policies that lift up ALL of us. From reintroducing Medicare for All, to working to abolish the death penalty, and defending those among us who have the least — we have been relentless in this fight for real change.

But the higher we climb together, the bigger our challenges.

The GOP and their corporate friends are all catching onto the fact that our movement is catching fire. Over my past three months in Congress, they’ve ramped up their attacks on our office and the policies we’re advocating for. It’s urgently clear that we’re going to need significant resources and support to fight back and keep making progress.

John, that’s why I’m writing to you today to see if you can make a donation before our first end-of-quarter Federal Elections Commission filing deadline tonight.

Every dollar counts as we race to close the gap on our $90,000 fundraising goal. If you can afford it, I hope you can make a donation today and show the GOP that you’re proud to be a part of this movement. [[link removed]]

Thank you for everything,
Cori
