We’ve sent a number of fundraising emails the past few days, so I thought it important to ask for a moment of your time to explain why these requests are so important to my campaign — especially this one today.

Here is the truth:

You may know that the vast majority of the donations we receive are from people giving small individual donations. I am talking about teachers, nurses, Amazon workers, Starbucks employees contributing $5, $10, $20 or whatever they can afford to help fund my campaign.

But what you may not know is that most of those donations come in response to emails like this one.

So when you see us running ads, when you see our new website, when you see us organizing in your community, it’s emails like this that fund that work.

And tonight, with our midnight fundraising deadline approaching, I have to ask:

Can I count on you to make a $3 contribution before our midnight fundraising deadline comes to a close? This one is important.

I am fighting to deliver a fair, equitable and transparent budget for all New Yorkers right now and I’ll share more about that in the coming days. But for now, thank you in advance for your generous contribution. It means a lot.
