I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and participating in all the activity this month around International Women’s Day.
Over the month, we’ve seen hundreds of you play along with our Feminist Bingo, a fun opportunity to learn and improve our feminism. If you didn’t get a chance to take part, you can still play here. We also had some amazing supporters create their own challenges to fundraise for Womankind, with activities ranging from freshwater swimming to DJ-ing!
We are also now over halfway to our £75,000 fundraising target! Thanks to the kind generosity of our donors, we have raised nearly £40k to support women and girls. We’re extending our match appeal until April 20th so there is still time to help us reach our goal and make your gift go twice as far.
If you make your gift before we reach our £75k target, your donation will be matched, meaning your gift will support twice as many women, at no additional cost to you.
Your gift will support vital initiatives, like our partner Women’s Action Group’s drive to help women who have lost their livelihoods due to COVID-19. They are distributing food, face masks, and period products to women who can no longer access them. And, after seeing increases in violence against women and girls, they have begun running a helpline for women experiencing domestic violence.
WAG also support women to become leaders in their communities. When we last wrote, we shared the story of Shiellar, who formed groups in her neighbourhood to challenge violence against women. Shiellar said,
“It really hurt me seeing other women suffering. I realised that women were divided and were not speaking with one voice. I then devised a strategy which helped to bring women together since we have common problems.”
Your support is key to funding this important work. With your support today, more women like Shiellar will be able to make big changes for women in their communities. I hope you will join me in making a donation today and make twice the difference for women and girls.
With warm wishes,
