Friend,
The Texas State Board of Education's overhaul of sex education
standards is underway - and they're packing the revision teams
with religious-right activists.
We need people like you to help make sure Texas teaches the truth on
sex education.
The Texas Education Agency is taking applications from individuals who
want to serve on work groups revising health curriculum standards for
Texas public schools. These standards include requirements for what
students should learn about sex education. The work groups include
educators, parents, and business professionals.
Work groups are an essential part of this process, hashing out the
actual language of the curriculum standards proposed to the SBOE.
It's critical that we get good folks on these groups. If you would
like to participate, we've compiled some important information about
the work groups, including how to apply, as well as a way of letting
us know you're interested in volunteering.

If you're not able to volunteer but know someone who should, please
forward this email to them.
We know Texas needs to change its failed approach to sex education.
But it can happen only with the involvement of Texans who support a
sex ed curriculum that's medically accurate, comprehensive and
inclusive.
In the fight,
Carisa Lopez
TFN Political Director
